Full details of the activities available at our open days will be provided in your open day guide which will be sent to you following your registration. In the meantime, we’ve put together these FAQs to help you prepare and make the most of your day at BGU.

Yes, booking is essential for these events. Please complete the booking form for the event you'd like to attend.

When you book a place on one of our open days, you'll receive an email confirmation with useful information and a link to manage your booking. If can't find this email, please check your spam folder or contact us at enquiries@bishopg.ac.uk.

Open days are a great way for not only you to see the campus and our university, but for your friends and family too – the more the merrier.

When you first arrive, you will need to register with us and receive the information you need for the day. Registration for our open days will take place please near to the car park or inside the Robert Hardy Building and registration for our open day lites (Feb-April) will take place in the Venue.

Our full open days (June-Dec) have organised sessions either related generally to university life or subject specific talks that you can attend. You can freely wander around the university, have a look at student accommodation, check out facilities such as the library, cafes, students’ union, and get an overall feel for the place. You’ll also be able to meet staff and current students, and find out about extra-curricular activities you could get involved with.

You'll have the opportunity to talk to your potential tutors face-to-face and ask them all about your chosen course. There'll also be representatives from Admissions, Student Advice and Careers and Employability to name just a few Plus, you will have a great opportunity to talk to current students. What better way to learn about the university than by speaking to the students who are already here?

Yes, our timetable allows you to attend two subject talks. All our talks are within a five minute walk of each other. Interested in more than two subjects? Don’t worry, we have a subject drop-in in the afternoon where there'll be a representative from every course.

BGU is a twenty-five-minute walk (uphill) from Lincoln train station and is well served by the local bus network with a bus-stop a few minutes from the campus. Maps and travel information can be found here.

Open day guests can use on our-campus car park for free. If you're driving to BGU, please enter via our Longdales Road entrance and follow the signs to our main car park. Blue badge holders can park in any of our dedicated parking bays.

All our venues have disabled access. If you have any accessibility or additional support requirements to facilitate your full participation in the event, please detail these on your registration. If you require any assistance on the day, our staff and student ambassadors are there to help.

There are plenty of wonderful, low cost and welcoming hotels, guest houses and bed & breakfasts around the university.

Tea, coffee and water will be available for the duration of the open day. Lunch will be provided at our summer open days. Light refreshments are available at our autumn open days. Our on-site urban diner Refectory will be serving hot and cold lunch options. Please note our campus outlets are now cashless. Further information regarding our catering outlets can be found here.

Moving away from home to begin your studies can seem rather scary – that’s why we aim to make your transition as smooth and hassle-free as possible. Our Accommodation Officer will be available throughout the day to help with any queries and provide information. Our students are our top priority. We’ll offer you support from your first application right through to graduation and beyond. During your open day, you’ll be able to speak to our Student Advice team on a wide range of issues and queries including accessibility and disability services, financial support, careers and futures guidance, counselling and Chaplaincy support.
